Hi and welcome to my site. My name is Leah Whitehorse and I created Lua as a space to share what I have learned so far on my magical path.
I am a co-author of Spellcaster: Seven Ways to Effective Magic and have had various other pieces published on mystical subjects.
You can read the introduction to my chapter on Amazon here.
Beginnings
As a child I was fascinated by dreams. I used to have a reccuring dream of an old man with a long white beard who pointed to the sky and showed me how the stars moved. My grandmother was a medium (although a reluctant one!) and used to buy Old Moores Almanac religiously every year. Her Grandmother was Romany and despite never really knowing her, many of her Gypsy ways were passed down through the family. My Grandmother taught me about folklore and plants and I would watch fascinated as wild birds tapped on her window and followed her round the garden. She bought me my first set of ‘fortune telling cards’ (Madame Lenormand) and a silver zodiac pendant. She talked of seeing pictures in clouds, omens of the moon and grounded me in superstition.
As an adult I have worked as clairvoyant, learned Reiki and Shamanic healing, written a Pagan album of music, studied tarot, runes, dreams, symbolism and crystals as well as astrology, given talks and held workshops on a variety of magical topics and walked the path of the Hedgewitch.
Astrology
To me an astrology chart is like a fractal. It contains the same image from the greater pattern within it “As above, so below”. We have free will but if we chose to embrace what our chart can teach us then it’s like tuning into a song that will sing us home. There are no bad charts. Everyone has their gifts and challenges. It is how we use the energies that matters.
If you are curious, I have a Taurus Sun, Moon in Aquarius and a stellium in Aries in the 9th house. I also have a ‘Finger of God’ (yod) configuration that points to Mercury in the 9th house. With this and the Sabian symbol ” The Constellations Of Stars Shine Brilliantly In The Night Sky” as my rising degree and Uranus in the 2nd house it is perhaps unsurprising that I have passion for Astrology!
Tarot
The visionary quality of the 9th house is reflected in my love of the Tarot. I believe the tarot provides an wonderful platform for self-exploration and personal, spiritual and creative development. It is a mirror: a snapshot of your life at a given time showing you how the beliefs you hold and actions you take can create your future. Tarot helps us step outside time and gain a larger perspective on our lives.
Dreams
The 9th House was also once known as the House of Dreams and I have been called a Dreamwalker. Dreams are stories that help us heal and learn and sometimes help us access other realms. They are our most accessible form of connection to our higher self and to the divine. I have worked with countless dreams over the years. There is always a message, a gift from the universe.
Why LUA?
Lua is a culmination of everything I have learned so far. Lua by the way means Moon in Portuguese. If you would like to find out more about my passion for Portugal and the Portuguese language (that’ll be my 9th house talking again!) please take a look at my other website In Love With Lisbon.
My wish is to share what I have learned so far on this journey in the hope that it will aid and inspire youalong your own path.
I love to hear from other star-seekers. Please feel free to email me or comment. Discussion is always welcome under the light of the silvery moon.

I THOUGHT I recognised your name, Leah! Spellcaster is the book that I return to again and again if I need to re-centre myself about what magic truly is. I have the following underlined from your contribution: (page 18) “The world is not separate from you. You are an intricate stitch in the fabric of time. If you change the stitch you change the pattern.” I also noted that you have a Romani heritage. (My great-grandmother was Romani.)
There is no mention in your biography in the book that you are an astrologer. How splendid! You will see that I have put a comment on the site already – about astrology when no birth time is known – and it was a Google search for “astrology birth time not known” that brought me to your site.
Very best wishes – and of course I will return to the site.
Margarita
It’s lovely to hear you enjoyed our book Margarita – thank you
Yes I have Romani heritage. Although I never knew my great great grandmother, much of her belief was passed down through to my Grandmother.
