New Moon in Gemini – June 2013 – Two Sides to Every Story

New Moon Gemini June 2013 TinyThe New Moon occurs at 15:56 (UT) on the 8th June 2013 at 18GEM00.

I just got off the phone from chatting to my Gemini friend whose birthday is today (as I write). I was talking to her about mandalas and she jumped in and read me a snippet of a book she’d been reading the day before. We often have amazing synchronicity between us and she is a minefield of information. With Gemini on the cusp of my 11th house, it’s no surprise that three of my closest friend fall under this sign – with each birthday being within the next 10 days.  My friend by the way, is an identical twin.

Gemini, is representing by the heavenly twins Castor and Pollux who bat between them experiences of heaven and hell as well as earthly stories. Gemini is the first of the air signs and in a natural chart covers the 3rd house. Gemini is how we learn to think and talk and most importantly, to make connections. This is the sign that gathers facts just in case they might come in handy one day. Gemini skim reads the newspaper looking for interesting nuggets to relate to friends. The cosmic twins seek out information because they believe it is the key to understanding (which comes with the opposite sign, Sagittarius). It is through Gemini that we begin to interact with something beyond ourselves and explore our surroundings. Our mental faculties develop as we learn language. In learning language we are then able to express our own internal world to the world outside. We learn to identify that there is me and there is you.

When the New Moon is in Gemini, it’s time to look at how you think, learn and communicate and how you relate to your surroundings. Question what you have learned so far and explore the ideas and opinions you hold about life.

New Moon in Gemini - 8th June 2013 - Chart

The Aspect Picture
Not unlike the twins that represent this sign, there is a clear ‘two sides to every story’ with this chart.

On the one hand there is the rather lovely Grand Water Trine which has been formed by Venus, Saturn and Neptune. These are peaceful aspects, full of compassion for others and tends towards a relaxed attitude over problems. This trine builds bridges and looks for where we agree with each other. In this pattern, we can compromise, mediate and reconcile differences by drawing upon deep unconditional love for each other.

On the other hand we have chart ruler Mercury in a stinky square to Uranus and opposition to Pluto. Even though Mercury is still in orb of the grand trine himself, he’s not quite feeling it because the big boys are calling the shots!

With Mercury in this position, it’s going to be necessary to choose your words very carefully because what is said now may have more impact than anticipated. With Mercury square Uranus, a typical snap comment could engender a smart come-back that makes all hell break loose. A square from the New Moon to Chiron indicates how much words can wound. Gemini itself can be an argumentative sign, arguing black is white just to win the case. If this becomes the case for you, focus on Mercury’s waning conjunction to Venus. Stick with the truth and remain in a loving place in any disagreements.

Jupiter provides some help being in a wide conjunction to the New Moon itself although he could be tempted to take the moral high ground when push comes to shove.

The Sabian Picture
The New Moon is on the Sabian symbol :-

A Large Archaic Volume Reveals A Traditional Wisdom

This Sabian reminds you that there is wisdom to call upon. If you are feeling mentally stuck, hit the books to see what you can find. Whether it’s sacred texts, self-help or reading about your astrology, someone, somewhere has the answer – or perhaps just the right question! This symbol also advocates reflecting on what you have learned from your immediate family. What were your favourite stories as a child; your favourite fairytale? These have probably played more of a role in your life than you can imagine. What did you learn from your parents and grandparents in your childhood? What wisdom did they impart to you that you still adhere to? Likewise, what lessons did you learn that have had a negative impact? What information do you need to undo any bad teaching?

The Asteroid Picture
A trine Juno emphasizes feminine energy. Juno had more than her fair share of arguments with Jupiter but she loved him nonetheless. It was her commitment that got her through the difficult times. Her mind was set on what she wanted. A semi-sextile to Vesta is a slightly irritating aspect which asks – how do you keep the flame burning when communication between you and a loved one is off kilter?

The key to this New Moon is in Mercury’s precarious position. Whilst the aspects are hard, Uranus provides flashes of insight and Pluto shows what needs to change. The manifestation potential of this Gemini Moon is high with the Grand Water Trine but to make the best of it, you need to be clear about what you are bringing into being.

The famous first words of the Bible are “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”. You are your own God, creation in action. What you think is what will be.
