So we arrive at the busiest astrological week of the year and the final Uranus-Pluto square. Last week, I found myself furious that my internet connection disconnected yet again mid conversation on Skype. After the call I decided, that’s IT. I am upgrading this damn internet to superfast fibre TODAY and put the order in with my provider. It was only afterwards that I suddenly remembered my astrology as transiting Mars and Uranus came together on my Midheaven and I had to laugh. What a perfect manifestation! So, as I look forward to being upgraded on Tuesday, I shall be keeping a close eye on the week’s astrological activities – of which we have just a few to keep us entertained and occasionally give us a headache!
The week begins with Mercury square Saturn on the 16th March. There is a palpable cosmic tension now. This aspect can feel like you are banging your head against a brick wall as you try to figure out problems and find solutions. It’s the kind of aspect which can make you feel like you are talking to a brick wall too! Maybe it feels like you can’t see past the problem, nothing seem to work, nothing’s going to work and you disappear into a puddle of Piscean despair.
The trick is to avoid catastrophe thinking. Saturn can make you feel like there’s no options, no way through and that it’s always going to be like this. But this too shall pass. If you feel caught up in the doom, turn problems over to your subconscious mind. Meditate. Write down your dreams. Go for a walk to gain some distance on it. Even a healthy dose of escapism might help to reset your mental processes.
The final Uranus-Pluto square occurs on the 17th March. Gosh, are we really here already? The noise of the battle will soon begin to diminish and it’ll be time to pick up the pieces and move forwards. What have you learned since 2012? What changed? What did you let go of? What do you see differently now? What has been revolutionised? Where have you been cosmically dismantled, reassembled and tuned up? If you have planets or points around 14 – 16 degrees of cardinal signs, this is your finale.
Some healing energy comes in to the picture as Pluto is also sextile asteroid Medea. Medea was a witch skilled in the art of herbalism. It was Medea who helped Jason retrieve the golden fleece by putting the dragon that guarded it to sleep. Perhaps now you too can slay your own personal dragons in order to retrieve the gold beyond fear.
Venus is delighted to enter her own sign of Taurus also on the 17th March. With all that outer planet action going on, maybe part of you needs a good massage to get rid of the tension and just relax! Venus asks that you get in touch with your body, treat it well as you would a lover. Cuddles – whether of the kitty variety or human are welcome. Hugs are healing! If you have no one around and no four footed friend, give yourself a hand, head or foot massage to re-connect and release negative energy.
Mercury meets with Neptune in a conjunction on the 18th March. With Venus in Taurus this could really turn into a lazy vibe. Take care that it doesn’t get too comfortable and manifest as hiding away from everything else that’s going on! Mercury conjunct Neptune can be escapist and also evasive. Messages can get muddled, communication misleading. If things become foggy, turn to your intuition for help. Mercury conjunct Neptune in Pisces is like a psychic radar. Meanwhile Chiron will be conjunct asteroid Ariadne so there’s a chance to get to the heart of old hurts and untangle fact from fiction.
Working at its best, these aspects can generate some fabulous creative inspiration. With the imagination of Mercury conjunct Neptune combined with the artistic talents of Venus in Taurus, this could work well for the creative types amongst you.
Venus in Taurus forms a semi-square to Chiron in Pisces on the 19th March which makes me think of how a wound itches as it heals. It’s mildly annoying but at least it lets you know that the healing process is underway. Maybe your feathers are ruffled by an old problem but it’s nothing that a few soothing words and kindness can’t resolve.
A Solar Eclipse occurs in the very final degree of Pisces on the 20th March. I have written all about that here but essentially this eclipse seems be connected to the idea of beginning the birthing process of the new you after the Uranus-Pluto square. Walls come tumbling down during this eclipse. The process cannot be halted. The waters have broken, the birth will happen. Those of you with planets or points around 29 degrees of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) will feel this eclipse most.
It’s auspicious because the Solar Eclipse occurs on the same day as the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere. The solar eclipse is an amped up New Moon, the Spring equinox in the Northern hemisphere is all about beginnings. On both sides of the equator, the equinox brings balance. It may take a little time to acclimatise but with the Sun’s entry into Aries, a boost of courage helps to face the changes.
Eros and Uranus unite on the 21st March. Profound understanding and change of perspective comes from seeing things as they really are. Relationships may get a wake up call but better to see things clearly than to be left in the dark. Venus is also quincunx Saturn today too so there’s a caution not to take things quite so seriously. Clarity doesn’t have to mean calamity!
Mercury in Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn on the 22nd March which seems like a perfectly fitting tribute to the cosmic tides for the end of the week. This aspect brings a depth of perception and a profound sense of understanding. Part of you is aware that whatever is going on, this is the reality of the soul’s growth. Keep taking notes. Your research will pay off. These are profound times.

Thank you Julie 🙂
You’re welcome Albin – hope the rest of the week is better for you.
So accurately expresses the tensions and strong birth energy of the moment. Isn’t it also interesting that with this eclipse Saturn is to station rx very close to it?
Hi Deborah – thanks for your comment. Yes, the Saturn retrograde seems to slow this all down a little. Perhaps there will be a delayed response with the eclipse.
