Full Moon in Scorpio April 2016 – Building Trust

the-making-of-a-fresco-showing-the-building-of-a-city-1931The Full Moon occurs at 05:23 (UT) on the 22nd April at 02°Sc31′.

Scorpio by its nature is intense but at this Full Moon, that intensity is turned within as both the rulers of Scorpio (Mars and Pluto) are retrograde. The Moon also doesn’t make any other Ptolemic aspects to the major planets so what we have here is a powerful focus on the polarity between Taurus (the Sun) and Scorpio (the Moon).

Taurus is about our survival, money and resources. It’s a fixed earth sign so its energies are focused on manifesting things in the physical realms. Taurus needs to have in order to feel secure. I often give the analogy of a farmer carefully tending his fields, sowing seeds. Taurus is the abundance that mother earth can bring, the warmth at the height of spring, the material rewards of hard work, the desire to see tangible results for effort made.

Scorpio however is fixed water so its focus is on emotional content. ‘What you have doesn’t matter’ says Scorpio – ‘what you feel is what counts’. Scorpio is the rotting flesh of apples fallen from the tree, the slaughtered lamb, the field left barren, the cold hard winter. Whilst Taurus teaches us to survive in the real world, Scorpio wants to know about your soul’s survival. Scorpio asks, ‘who are you without all this stuff?’. It reminds me of the poem, The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer and the wonderful line :-

“I want to know
what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.”

Scorpio wants to share whilst Taurus wants to have it all to itself. In Scorpio we seek deep soul connection through sexual intimacy. Whilst Taurus enjoys a roll in the hay and has plenty of love to give as it’s ruled by Venus, Taurus is mostly focused on the delight and comfort of physical touch. In Scorpio, we cannot hide behind our body, bank balance or possessions – only the truth, warts and all will do.

So this Full Moon in Scorpio, brings these themes into play. There may be crisis, especially in relationships or with money issues. What is in darkness will be brought out for examination and you may find there are stark contrasts in your life. There may be a tendency towards extremes, thinking things are life and death. It’s important to recognise that it’s a dance between the two with each forming part of the other. You may feel raw but there is a chance to enter into mysterious inner realms and draw upon soul sustaining honesty. Consider what needs be released so that you can live without fear of being destroyed by deep connection to others and yourself. Contemplate what it means that you are a soul living a human experience.

The power that lies behind Scorpio is that it is not afraid of death or change or endings because Scorpio understands that it can’t be all hearts and flowers. Sometimes relationships or situations become toxic and need purging. Sometimes they are simply past their sell by date. Scorpio teaches Taurus how to let go.

The Sabian symbol of the Full Moon is :-

A House-Raising Party In A Small Village Enlists The Neighbours’ Cooperation

The symbol suggests that we need to help each other through this process of transformation. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. It is Scorpio’s natural inclination to share what it has. Many of us learn to hide our fears, to keep a secret store of guilt, shame, anger, grief. Allowing others to see these shadows can be profoundly healing for all of us. Trust is priceless.

  1. Does this affect a person with a moon and Mars in Scorpio more? I am a natal Sag with cancer rising and moon and Mars in Scorpio.

  3. A wonderful post, just what I’m feeling and going through. I had to leave a relationship behind since it had become toxic, but it had been very deeply transforming too. A part of me wants to hold onto what was good about it(forever), but no, today I agreed it’s time to move on from this. I can truly feel the pull of the Taurus (clinging, posessive) and the Scorpio (honesty, purging, death, transformation) Wonderfully written Leah. Many thanks.

  4. Unreal in what’s going on in mine and my Scorpio girlfreinds life right now that reading is so accurate it’s scary my belief in the zodiac has become so strong it blows my mind
