New Moon in Scorpio October 2019 – Exorcism

The New Moon in Scorpio occurs at 03:38 (UT) on October 28, 2019 at 04°Sc25′.

The lights meet in the depths of Scorpio’s waters. Scorpio relates to death, change, closure, endings, intimacy, trust, truth, power and control. As this is the beginning of a new lunar cycle, there is the potential for a fresh start yet at the same time, this beginning is also the signal of an ending. For a door to open, another must close.

Emotions are intense. We cannot escape feelings that bubble up from deep within the psyche. Desires, wants, needs – they feel raw, visceral, real. What is required now is absolute honesty both with ourselves and with others. The more transparent we are, the closer we become, the more we feel empowered.

The Moon and Sun are in a tight opposition to Uranus. Uranus is the lightning bolt that shocks us awake in the middle of the night. Maybe there are literal surprises or shocks that force us to see where change is needed. In some place in our lives, we have been too stuck for too long and Uranus is having none of it.

“Wake up” he cries as we roll out of bed on the heels of a nightmare, sweating. shaking, not knowing what woke us, nerves skittering. But then there’s a giggle from Spirit, a jingle of cosmic court jester bells and we laugh because we realise that we’ve spent all this energy holding onto what was already gone.

Yes, Uranus has a strange sense of humour and he’s not adverse to pointing out where are fears too are ridiculous.

As the New Moon is trine the North Node in Cancer, this is a time of spiritual awakening and powerful shifts of perspective. It’s also a time of sharp contrasts – light and shadow, having and letting go, all or nothing.  Sudden changes around this period are like a blast of wind stripping the leaves from the trees. It’s time to get naked. We need to strip away what isn’t working for us, reveal our true selves, stop hiding beneath secrets and shame.

The rulers of this lunation, Mars and Pluto, are square one another and Mars is also square to Saturn. The complication is that we want things to move faster than they can. We’re tempted to fight immovable obstacles, force our will, MAKE IT HAPPEN NOW. We could find ourselves getting angry about the wrong things or fired up without an outlet to channel our energies. We need to know when to push and when to hold back, when to move forwards, when to wait. Sometimes there are rules for a reason. Instead of fighting everything out there, we need to turn our attention within. Reach down into the core of yourself. Explore your motivations and desires. Ask hard questions. Probe the depths of your consciousness. Face your fears.

The Sabian symbol for the New Moon is: –

A Massive Rocky Shore Resists The Pounding Of The Sea

Sometimes it is important to stand firm in the face of adversity. Sometimes we must hold out despite the pressure. But then there are also times when we must recognise that change is inevitable. The land will yield to the sea just as our lives will be shaped by the emotional content that lies beyond the surface of our awareness.

So, dive deep into your psyche during this lunation. Let the nightmares come and look beyond their scary masks. Exorcise the ghosts. Embrace your shadows. Regenerate. The veil between the worlds is thin as we move into sacred Samhain. Trust that Spirit is on your side. Know that you have enormous reserves of power at your disposal. You will rise and rise again.
