The New Moon in Libra occurs at 12:05 (BST) on October 6, 2021 at 13°Li24′.
As Libra’s ruling planet, Venus, is making her way through Scorpio and opposing anaretic Sedna on the weeping sister’s degree, this New Moon feels complex and there’s an air of unease. Pluto is also stationary, about to move into direct motion. It adds intensity, especially as it’s also about to complete the final square to Eris, exact on October 9. Mercury retrograde in Libra is widely conjunct the New Moon which indicates that we may need to go over old ground before reaching an agreement, starting a new relationship or making an important decision.
The Moon and Sun are also tightly conjunct Mars, and all are quincunx Uranus. We have electric anxiety pumping adrenaline through our veins. There’s an urge to take action, to put things right, to seek justice, but we need to guard against impulsiveness. Uranus may also bring a sense of an awakening, a sudden flash of higher understanding. But still, we need to wait for the wheels to turn or for more information to manifest before we charge. Consider – ‘what is my goal here? What is my motivation? Pluto stationing also tells us to ease up on the reins and stop trying to control everything. Change is happening. We don’t have to hurry it along.
In Libra we meet ‘the other’ – whether it’s a romantic partner, business client or open enemy. In the other, we see aspects of ourselves that have been disowned – oh I don’t like her, she’s so judgemental! I don’t like him, he’s so vulgar! Whilst we all have our (Venusian) likes and dislikes, strong reactions tend to say more about us than the other person. An opposition from the Moon, Sun and Mars to Chiron highlights that we could be caught off-guard unless we pay attention to what is triggering us. Watch for red flags. The atmosphere is super-sensitive and its easy to hurt each other’s feelings.
The Sabian Symbol of this lunation is: –
In The Heat Of The Noon Hour A Man Takes A Siesta
Firstly, this symbol reminds us that when things get HOT, sometimes the best action is no action! Maybe we need to take a break, step out, cool down! Alternatively, maybe we’re caught napping, just when we should be making an extra effort. Knowing when to push ahead and when to retreat are an integral part of this picture, especially with Mars involved.
Generally speaking, Libra is where we learn how to deal with other people through learning about ourselves. The more aware we are of our inner self, the easier our relationships function. In Libra, we learn to compromise, negotiate, and look for win-win solutions. This sign strongly advocates equality, fairness, and justice for all. At this lunation, it’s time to find your centre and check whether you are also being fair to yourself. Tune up, tune in, reconnect. Focus on calm and healing. If we need to assert ourselves to rebalance the scales, the energy is available for us to do so. A firm but gentle hand is the best way forward.
