Lunar Eclipse in Taurus November 2021

The lunar eclipse occurs at 08:57 (UT) on November 19, 2021 at 27TAU14.

This Full Moon in Taurus opens the new eclipse season and also gives us a hint of things to come. The eclipses are uniquely bound to the Nodes and although the Nodes are currently still in Gemini (North Node) and Sagittarius (South Node), the Nodes will move into Taurus and Scorpio in January next year. This is the first of the Taurus eclipses so it begins a story that will last for the next 18 months or so. This is also an extremely long eclipse, the longest of its type in fact for over a thousand years! This resonates with the energy of slow-moving Taurus and offers the idea that perhaps we need to take our time to incorporate the lessons of this eclipse period. With Venus, ruler of this eclipse, having entered the shadow zone by the time the eclipse occurs, it’s a double message that this is an unfolding story, one that needs time to grow, just as a seedling takes time to develop into a flower.

A lunar eclipse often heralds an important decision or crisis point that pushes us past a block or blind spot. The eclipse is in a tense T-square pattern with Jupiter which asks us to explore whether we have the resources, skills, talents and belief to build ourselves a bigger and brighter future. Hope for a better world, both individually and collectively is important but we also have to back that up with practical actions and decisions in the here and now. We are also perhaps running into opposing beliefs and opinions, ones that challenge us to face our shadows and deal with our fears.

The eclipse is on the Sabian symbol A Woman, Past Her “Change Of Life”, Experiences A New Love so despite some of the background tension in the chart, we have a hint that there is the promise of a fresh start, a second chance. It’s never too late to start again.
