Excerpt [edited] from Patreon transcript – It’s a New Moon and a new start. This is the global 11th house, so we’re looking at seed moments around groups and networks, the wider community, society, political systems, humanitarian and progressive causes. In our own lives, we’re ready for a revolutionary new start that will open doors and invite us to do something different. We want new experiences to change our thinking. Aquarius is a sign that’s associated with the higher mind, God-mind. It’s a great time to brainstorm with other people. We need other people to get different ideas. If we’re stuck in our own thinking we can’t progress. If we don’t read any books or we don’t speak to new people; if we don’t take in any new information, we’re just going to keep doing the same thing.
The time may be right for a new beginning, but it needs to be slow. It needs to be considered and sensible with Saturn. Aquarius is brilliant, novel, genius, sometimes a little crazy and sometimes there is a need for those crazy ideas – but now is not one of those times! The calls for revolution and change are absolutely required. But how we do it is also very important. Saturn suggests that revolutionary change must be managed carefully. We can’t just upend the system and destabilise everything.
The Sabian symbol of this lunation is ‘A Barometer’. It makes me think about a game I used to play with friends as a child. One person hides something in a room and then everyone comes back in the room and starts looking for it. As soon as they move nearer to where that object is, the person who hid the item shouts ‘warmer you’re getting warmer!’ And then if they move away from it, they say ‘you’re getting colder, COLDER!
It feels like we’ve got to be in tune and connected, gauging the temperature of the room. We need to be observant of the conditions that we find ourselves in. Is it too hot? Is it too cold? What is happening here? Because the barometer is going to give us an indication of how best to act in that circumstance.
If the barometer falls, indicating low pressure, I know that I need to take an umbrella with me because it’s probably going to rain. But if the barometer goes up, suggesting high pressure, I know that I can leave the umbrella at home because it’s going to be fine and sunny. So, the barometer is about observing and checking the conditions. The barometer gives us a prediction. It’s not necessarily absolute or completely right every single time but there are indications as to how things might unfold. Therefore, we need to be observant; pay attention to the conditions that we find ourselves in, because that will govern what we do next. Saturn advocates a practical, scientific attitude, to be real, to be present. That way, we can choose the very best response and be ready for whatever life throws at us.
